At the end of December, schools across the GIA family in China and Japan held the first ever Rise Up for Performing Arts (RUPA) awards, celebrating the talents of students in all grades in the performing arts, from film making, original songs to art and piano performances. Each school held an award ceremony and Griggs China gifted the winners and runners up with a certificate and cash prize of $100 for the winners and $50 for the runners up across two grade categories: grades 5 to 9 and grades 10 to 12.

We are so proud of all the students who entered the competition and huge congratulations to the winners and runners up. Here are the details of the winners:

Ms. Mia, the Communications Teacher for GIA at Hefei Ivy Experimental Academy, who oversees the Rise Up Program at her school had this to say about their winner, Amber:

“She's a perfectionist to her fingertips. She is the first student who told me she will participate in the RISE UP Program, and she is also the last one to hand in her video. She made the video all by herself, after the modifications over and over again. And she never gave up, I'm so proud of her.”

Next semester the Rise Up Program focuses on science, technology and engineering and we hope even more students make entries for the Rise Up for Science and Engineering Awards (RUSE).
